This project focused on creating a themed ID for HULU to use in their promotions and platform for holidays! I focused on their earth day campaign specifically.
Themed ID
In this project I worked with Jason Beale, a motion designer at Hulu, to create an animated channel ID for Hulu's earth day campaign. This was a super exciting opportunity to create something that is so widely applicable to things such as streaming services, commercials, and broadcast companies.
Process
Step 1.
The Pitch! I decided to go with two very different looks for this campaign, one extremely tactile and the other graphic.
Step 2.

First pass. I was still waiting on feedback for which look I was to move forward with so I made a first pass for both looks. i did however make some changes to the tactile one by removing the people and adding a pattern.
Main Notes: Tell me why? Why tactile, why graphic? WHY???

The smile feels too much like prime smile, the color pallet could use more tweaks, Add way more plants
Step 3.
Well, after that feedback round I finally got a chosen direction so I only had to explain the "why" for one of my ideas. That idea, is the graphic one, but with a twist. Loose the face, add more plants.
So I ditched the face and added more foliage!
Main notes:
Add more layers of foliage and incorporate the purple throughout the scene more. Some plants move too fast and some not at all. remove one big leaf.
Let me introduce the plants I chose for this campaign. I went for a mix of plants from tropical to dry climates such as cacti mixed with monstera plants. I wanted these plants to be recognizable to a large audience. I also included some common house plants, like the snake plant, for even more recognition to the viewer. I also added purple as a highlight color. I chose purple because it complements the Hulu green really well and is pretty commonly found in nature.
Step 4.
All assets were created
with rounded edges to
follow Hulu brand standard.
