Music Visualizer
Create a fascinating visualization of one of the new musical releases from the Universal Production Music studio. The animation visually interprets the music while introducing the name of the release.
Process
This project really spoke to me right off the bat. After I chose my song "Little Friends" I was imaging something heavily inspired by Lotte Reiniger in composition and material, but also putting my own spin onto it. I originally planned on shooting real puppets and then comping them into a set that I would scan in layer by layer. I wanted to create something that would speak to a younger audience without being stereotypical and focusing on fast paced techno beats.
Step 1. Asset Creation
I began with drawing out the rabbit character and bird, then divided them up, cut, and assembled them. I then went on to collect different colors and textures of paper to create my scene which I took high resolution scans of.
Step 2. Creating the Scene
Here is my first pass! you can see all the elements compiled together in one scene but my main note from this was that the elements felt disconnected from one another in terms of style. Also the instruments looked bad and the rabbit dancing was weighted very strangely.
Step 3. Second Pass
To help the piece feel more like a band I added a third band member into the mix. His name is Reginald and he plays the triangle. But along with him I also switched out all the assets used for the instruments. I also tried unifying the style in the piece by emphasizing the outlines on the trees and adding them on the grass. Main Note; the big brown area feels empty and the layers are way to close together. Also the words are hard to read.
Step 4. Revisions
I started by finding a way to emphasize the parallax. I also tried to find a way to fill the big brown area that felt like woods, as well as addressing the legibility issue on the words.

Some notes:
Try adding falling leaves to emphasize depth.
